Responded to the following slander from Jonathan Merritt, provided the context, etc., and discussed a great deal (nearly an hour) on slavery, historical contexts, Biblical interpretation, etc., and the fact that, basically, you just aren’t allowed to let the Bible speak for itself any longer. Then looked at Bart Ehrman’s 2017 Christmas thoughts with a focus upon the “God of Christmas” he presented.
Talked a bit about our time at G3, then up in NY at New Hyde Park Baptist Church, talked a little about the New World Translation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and then started on calls, with discussions of 2 Cor. 5:21 as well as the eternal generation of the Son taking up most of the time.
Used the comments made by Matt Dillahunty and Glen Scrivener on the Unbelievable program as a platform for a discussion of apologetic methodology and application today on the program, going just under 90 minutes. This included definitions of presuppositionalism as well as a short discussion of slavery in the Bible as well. Last program till next week due to the G3 Conference in Atlanta. See you all there!
Had to get the silly stuff out of the way first, so we looked at Andrew Sluder’s “KJB Numerology” where he uses verse numbers and their position in the Bible to prove its inspiration. Then we got serious and read through a Soteriology 101 article and dealt with its man-centeredness. Finished off with an RNS opinion piece that alleged that James Cone’s heresy really isn’t heresy, it is all about white power. Also had some further information about the Rome/Israel cruise and associated excursions.
Back to live streaming today (yay!). Covered, very quickly, the questions asked by Marcus Rogers in one of those “I’m going to prop my phone up on my dashboard in a parking lot” type videos regarding the Trinity. I was named specifically, so I responded specifically, though briefly. Then we looked at 2 Thess. 2:15 as quoted by Jay Dyer in his “10 Reasons” video we started responding to last week.
