Micro-Aggression Worship Songs, Tweets from the MLK50 Conference, Ehrman on the Gospel Writers, Open Phones

Covered a number of odd things coming out of the MLK50 Conference, including a “worship song” that included the concept of “micro-aggressions” (just finding a way to put that tongue stopper in a line of music deserves credit!) and a tweet insisting that “White Evangelicalism” (whatever that is) “owes” the “black community” monetary investment.  Then we got back to the Ehrman/Licona debate, looking at one of Ehrman’s arguments promoting historical skepticism.  Then went to calls on all sorts of topics including the LBCF and CBGM (love those acronyms).  Enjoy!

Christian Renewal Focused on True Knowledge of Christ vs. Neo-Marxism (First Hour) then…Coherence Based Genealogical Method Introduction!

Not sure a program could have two more different topics, but I managed to pull it off today!  Spent the first 55 minutes starting off with a study of Colossians 3:9-11.  I then focused upon what this text means as to the proper, biblical basis of Christian unity in the body of Christ.  I then made application to the growing promotion of neo-Marxism in the West and, sadly, in the evangelical church as well.  Tough topics to cover.  Then we completely switched gears and I began a very, very basic introduction to CGBM: Coherence-Based Genealogical Methodology in New Testament textual criticism.  Yes, it’s THAT geeky.  But, we have folks who like in-depth stuff like that, and I am neck-deep in it in my own studies, so that’s what we did!  Enjoy!

Philosophical “Response,” Racialism Again, Calls Including Church of Christ Question

Started off with some brief comments on a response posted by Dr. Davis in reply to the last program, and then spent quite a while on the race issue once again due to comments on line by Urban Apologetics and Kyle Howard.  Took a call from our brother Kofi up north, had problems with the phones, and managed to get to only two other calls due to those technical issues, one on the Church of Christ and the concept of law keeping.

Pelagians on Twitter, Man-Centered God at Bethel, Presuppositions in Ehrman, Open Phones

Started off looking at a Pelagian on Twitter by the name of “C G.”  Then played an entire ten minute long clip from a guy on the “Dead Raising Team” from Bethel Church in Redding about how we should believe in the goodness of people (please read Romans 3:10-18 over three times while pondering that concept).  Before going to the phones for the last part of the program we looked at how presuppositions impact arguments, such as those made by Bart Ehrman about the birth narratives in Matthew and Luke.

Chasing Textual Criticism into BYU, then Open Phones

Started off with a (to me) really interesting discussion of a recent study in textual criticism that led me, in the minutes just before the program, off into the woods of Mormonism and BYU.  At least I thought it was fascinating!  But we eventually got out of the woods and did open phones on a wide variety of topics (isn’t that what open phones are all about?).  Almost 90 minutes in length today.
