Matthew 28:19 with Vocab Malone in Response to Ron Shields

A two-plus hour long episode that will mainly be of interest to those who study textual criticism and who have an interest in the Black Hebrew Israelite movement—not the normal topics you see put together but that’s what we addressed today, going into clips from Ron Shields, aka “Divine Prospect,” and his claims regarding Matthew 28:19.

Remembering RC, Then, Refuting More Textual Traditionalism

Started off playing a half hour interview from 2008 with RC Sproul remembering and celebrating a wonderful gift to Christ’s church.  Then we completely shifted gears and got into the issues raised by A James White Christmas Carol, an animation movie about Luke 23:34 that is desperately dishonest at its base (regarding the false accusation of my attacking David Wood, for example) and thoroughly indefensible in its presuppositions.  Be warned!  This is a jumbo-mega, almost 2.5 hours in length!  Sorry about that!  But lots of textual and historical discussion included.

Daily Bible Reading Plan for 2018

It is about that time of the year when we are introduced to creative ways to read our Bible for the next calendar year. Did you do it this year?

This is my tenth year encouraging others to take each day of the year to read and reflect on a single unit in the Gospels. Did you know there are about 365 units in the Gospels? In the past, I cited five good reasons to own a Gospel Synopsis. The fifth reason is:

“Read a synopsis in one year by reading one pericope [a gospel unit] every day. By coincidence, the synopsis contains 367 pericopes. That is, all four Gospels combined contain 367 units.

Get the following edition soon before the first of year so you are ready to go: Synopsis of the Four Gospels

The Pope and the Lord’s Prayer, Slander & Keyboard, SJC, Zachariades & God’s Justice

Started off looking at Pope Francis and “lead us not into temptation.” Then had to look at Slander and Keyboard (the group formerly known as Pulpit & Pen, sort of like the artist formerly known as Prince…or Purple something, I could never figure that part out) as well as some wild eyed “bigotry in the name of Christianity is fine with me” tweets from Steve Camp, and finally spent a few minutes considering Theodore Zachariades’ challenge to debate whether God’s justice requires creaturely freedom (God has sovereignly decreed it to be so, I would say).  Hate to have to spend time with S&K, SJC, etc., but bigotry in the name of the faith can never be overlooked.

Unanticipated Discussion of CBGM and P45, Then Beginning of a Review of Ijaz Ahmad’s Video on OT/NT “Corruption”

I started off thinking I’d mainly respond to Ijaz Ahmad’s video today and then open the phones, but alas, I mentioned a little bit about the Coherence Based Genealogical Method in regards to some volumes of the TuT series (Text und Textwert) that had just arrived today and people started asking questions and I ended up saying a LOT more than I had planned about the topic!  I finally did get to Ijaz’s presentation, but only got 4 and a half minutes in before had to wrap up.  A bit technical today, but that’s why some of you listen to the program, right?
