Started off the DL today with a review of some important thoughts from John 4, then looked a bit at the continued advance of totalitarianism. But spent most of our time looking at today’s Jihad Watch article re-treading the Yasir Qadhi story. Robert Spencer shows us once again the difference between approaching Islam from a worldly perspective or from the biblical perspective.
Hard to even remember the number of topics we covered today! Looked at a tweet from P&P about my being “childish,” looked at a new contributor to WorldView Weekend who is just repeating the same old, oft-refuted errors, listened to William Lane Craig misrepresent Calvinists (again), played the disgusting clip of an actress proud of her multiple abortions, looked at some really off-base Islamic arguments, talked about my new book with Doug Wilson, and then played a Ruckmanite KJV Only video and responded to it. Probably some other stuff in there, but you’ll just have to listen!
A full two hours on the DL today. Due to connection issues, we recorded “off air.” First section we looked at a few comments from the “News Division” over at Pulpit and Pen on the Nashville Statement (wink, wink). Then we read through this excellent statement that was released last week on critical race theory and its damaging impact on the church. Then in the last 80 minutes or so we responded fully to a video from a Roman Catholic on the Golden Chain passage in Romans 8 (I played it in its entirety—but at 1.2x to 1.3x speed). I truly hesitated to invest the major amount of time in responding to this young fellow, mainly because not only are his arguments really, really bad, but they are very shallow, and his materials are filled with “fluff” that takes forever to sift through. He just doesn’t make his points clearly and succinctly, but, like Ahmed Deedat, is a “showman,” substituting glitz and video for substantial argumentation and reasoning. But, we pressed on and hopefully provided a “learning moment” anyway, for we were able to move all the fluff out of the way and get to the point: the insertion of human tradition into the Bible’s teachings resulting in a complete overthrow of God’s glorious grace.
Unfortunately we have developed connection problems yet once again with our ISP, so we had to cut things a bit short when everything just ground to a halt. First hour was a rather full discussion of the Nashville Statement and some of those who have attempted to respond to it. Then we switched over to the always enjoyable topic of Critical Race Theory, “White Supremacy,” and the like, looking at articles by Jemar Tisby and others that are simply way over the line when it comes to anything close to a New Testament position on the nature of Christian fellowship, the church, etc. Unfortunately, that’s when the connection decided to give up the ghost, which slammed the recording program, etc. We had to stop, restart, and so I decided to shut it down earlier than I had intended. Technology! Well, I’m sure it will come up again next week. In any case, a bit “heavy” on the topics, but necessary, and hopefully useful to all.
The first half of the program was prompted by the Presidential statement (Tweet!) on “transgenders” in the military and the reactions to it from the secular totalitarians. What are the worldview implications and foundations? Then in the second half of the program we went back to the last portion of the comments made by Dr. William Lane Craig on the Eric Hernandez/Sye Ten Brugencate discussion on apologetic methodology. Important, and hopefully useful, material on a jumbo (90 minute) edition of the program.
