A Few Pope Francis Stories, A Bit on Ken Wilson and Augustine, and Open Phones

Ran through some quick discussions of a few topics in the first half hour, and then took calls in the second.  Covered a few Francis the Marxist stories, and then looked briefly at Ken Wilson’s anti-Calvinist polemic (dressed up as a work of history), The Foundation of Augustinian-Calvinism.  Then pointed folks to a new resource for Qur’an studies, Fadel Soliman’s Bridges’ Translation of the Ten Qira’at of the Noble Quran.  Went to the phones with calls on teaching teens apologetics, church history, reaching Mormons, etc.

The Dividing Line is on YouTube video. Our YouTube channel also provides videos of most of the debates that Dr. White has done over the years. Take some time and browse it to see if there is something there of interest to you. If you are looking for the next upcoming show be sure to subscribe to the blog as we post show announcements the morning of the show.

All the Dishes in the Kitchen Sink

The title for today’s program came from Rich. Blame him. Started off talking about the quotation I had posted on Facebook and all the guesses—none of which were right. The quotation was from Dr. Yasir Qadhi, so I fleshed that out as far as worldviews, evangelism, apologetics, etc. Then we discussed the wishful effort to “orthodoxicize” Martin Luther King’s views on the resurrection of Christ, as well as some comments made by a Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) professor about James Cone. Introduced a new phrase, “virtue twerking,” then spent the longest period of time analysing a 3:18 long video from Reasonable Faith (William Lane Craig) on “What About Those Who Never Hear?” (found here). Finally finished up with a few more minutes of response to Jay Dyer on the topic of sola scriptura. 90 minutes today!

Two Refutations: Eric Mason (First Hour), Jeffrey Riddle (Last Half Hour)

As was needed I responded to the slanderous misuse of a video clip by Eric Mason, author of Woke Church, for the first hour or so today, including the playing of the entire context from the July 26, 2016 Dividing Line from which he took his clip. A wide ranging discussion about the woke church, critical theory, identity politics, and the degradation of reason and communication in the church today. Then we looked at the “challenge” Dr. Riddle posted on Tuesday and discussed how Riddle’s diminishment of the importance and value of the “vaunted papyri” in his service of the TR can be validly used against any proper defense of the NT that we would present today. Just under 90 minutes today, and we plan on doing another program tomorrow, same time.
