The Same Sex Controversy - Defending and Clarifying the Bible's Message About Homosexuality
by James R. White & Jeffrey D. Niell
In the guise of tolerance, modern culture grants alternative lifestyle status
to homosexuality. Even more disturbing, some within the church attempt to revise
and distort Christian teaching on this behavior.
The authors write for all who want to better understand the Bible's teaching
on the subject, explaining and defending the foundational Bible passages that
deal with homosexuality--including Genesis, Leviticus, and Romans. Expanding on
these Scriptures, they refute the revisionists' arguments--including the claim
that Christians today need not adhere to the Law. In a straightforward and
loving manner, they appeal to those caught up in a homosexual lifestyle to
repent and return to God's plan for His people.
Author Information: James R. White is the author of several
acclaimed books, including The King James Only Controversy and The
Forgetten Trinity. He is an elder of the Phoenix Reformed Baptist Church,
director of Alpha and Omega Ministries, a Christian apologetics organization, an
adjunct professor with Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, and a professor
of apologetics with Columbia Evangelical Seminary. He and his family live in
Phoenix.
Endorsements: The Same Sex Controversy lucidly defends the
Bible's message that both the orientation toward homosexuality and its behavior
are immoral in God's sight. The authors exegete the relevant passages accurately
and fairly. This is the book to give to all who want level-headed scriptural
teaching as they wrestle with this provocative issue. -Dr. Joel R. Beeke--Puritan
Reformed Theological Seminary, President and Professor of Systematic Theology
and Homiletics
Reviews:
"With homosexuality portrayed on television and in movies as common, most
people forget that God sees it as a sin. White and Neill examine the debate over
the acceptability of homosexuality in light of specific Bible passages. They
refute common misconceptions and rationalizations about how homosexuality is
portrayed or discussed in the Bible and pull no punches in labeling the acts of
lesbians and homosexuals as unnatural and wickedly sinful. Despite their
unflinching stand against homosexuality, the authors are eager to minister to
those wrestling with homosexual issues and to help those with family members or
friends who are involved in homosexual activity. They offer procedures and
techniques for resisting homosexual urges, as well as suggest ways the church
can teach truthfulness and healing to the homosexual community. Obviously this
book is for mature readers, both in age and years as Christians, but it is
well-researched and solid in both biblical stances and emphasis on a need to
face this growing negative trend in society." --Church Libraries
They end the book with a pastoral appeal to those who find themselves
interested in or actually engaged in homosexuality. Rather than assuming a
haughty attitude of condemnation, they attempt to make a reasonable, yet
plain-spoken case for abiding by what is obviously God's will in this matter."
