James White, , Exegesis, Reformed Apologetics, The Dividing Line, Theology MattersDecided to do a Radio Free Geneva today and review a chapel sermon delivered by Pastor Ronnie W. Rogers at Truett-McConnell College just recently. A fair amount of discussion of God’s freedom, man’s nature, the nature of divine knowledge, etc. Enjoy! Here is the YouTube link:
Theology Matters—Again
James White, , Reformed ApologeticsI was listening to a debate while riding this morning (nothing new there). What was unusual was 1) it was cold (for Phoenicians, 43 and windy is cold, and for anyone, really, on a bicycle, that’s cold), and 2) the Christian in the debate illustrated for me yet once again how theology matters. Your theology determines your apologetic, by nature.
Continuation of Response on Ordo Salutis
James White, , Reformed ApologeticsAs I promised last week, I continued my response to Dr. Wright on issues relating to the ordo salutis from our debate in Sedalia in the Bible Study hour at PRBC. I only had about 35 minutes or so, so I had to rush a bit, but hopefully this will be useful. Here’s the link to the discussion (streaming/download).
Ol’ Bob Ross Keeps On…Doing His Thing
James White, , Reformed ApologeticsFor those of you who get Bob Ross’ e-mail updates, yes, I know he’s still on the warpath. I feel for him, but decided last year that he is beyond correction, and in light of his encouragement of Wilkin’s efforts, and his manifest ignorance of Wilkin’s views, and his continued comments about a debate he did not see or hear
Notes for On-Air Webcasts in Response to CBF 2nd Edition
James White, , Reformed ApologeticsBelow I have produced the notes I used in doing the Dividing Line Webcasts responding to Dr. Geisler’s added appendix on The Potter’s Freedom (these programs aired 8/11, 8/18, and 8/25/01. This is not my “published” reply to Dr. Geisler. That is found at here. These are simply the rough notes I used. I expanded on some points in my written
JD Greear, Homosexuality, Michael Licona, Certainty and Assurance
James White, , Atheism, Christian Worldview, General Apologetics, Homosexuality, Post-Evangelicalism, Reformed Apologetics, The Dividing Line, Theology MattersStarted off looking at JD Greear’s blog article, which reflected pretty much what he had said in a sermon back during the winter, regarding homosexuality. Then looked at a tweet from Jonathan Merritt, replied to by Brian Zahnd, on the accusation of “idolatry of the family.” Then we moved on to play a portion of a video from Mike Licona
David Allen on John Owen
James White, , Reformed ApologeticsThe Q&A section of the John 3:16 Conference was mildly interesting. Thankfully, at least one Calvinist asked a direct, clear question. Noting that David Allen had chosen to spend the vast majority of his time repeating the arguments of Ponter and Byrne (rather than dealing with biblical materials), the question was asked if he would do more than the “read
Interesting Quotes
James White, , Reformed ApologeticsJohn Orlando, a sometimes-visitor to our chat channel, has posted a very interesting article here. I found it interesting not because it is complimentary of me, but for the citations it provides from Jerry Falwell relating to Reformed theology and John Calvin. Anyone who reads those comments from Falwell and compares them with what has been preached within the past
