Roman Catholic Topics
James White, , The Dividing LineWe had some phone problems during the first part of the program, but, ye olde “reset” fixed that, so we covered…a lot of stuff! Mainly Roman Catholic topics today, even in the calls.
Radio Free Geneva
James White, , The Dividing LineWorked through Pastor Martin Gale’s anti-Calvinism sermon today (see link below) in a special Radio Free Geneva edition of the Dividing Line, looking at common objections and the incoherence of those arguments. A great way to finish off 2010! Thanks to all who have listened to the DL this year, and we look forward to serving our Lord and proclaiming
The Infancy Gospel of Thomas and James 2:14-26
James White, , Christian Worldview, Exegesis, Roman Catholicism, The Dividing LineTwo sections to today’s program: the first is a reading of the Infancy Gospel of Thomas (with a few comments thrown in for good measure), followed by an extended discussion, based upon comments made recently by Tim Staples on Catholic Answers Live, of James 2:14-26 and justification by faith alone. DNC Platform Document
James White, , The Dividing LineDidn’t really intend to spend pretty much the entire hour on this, but, as I often say, it’s definitely live webcasting. Started off reflecting on the statements in support of the murder of unborn children and the profanation of marriage that are found in the DNC platform document, and then turned to Isaiah 5:8ff for thoughts on what happens when
Diaa Mohamed
James White, , The Dividing LineBasically focused on continuing our review of Diaa Mohamed’s comments in his debate with Samuel Green, and then looked at some more of James McCarthy’s comments against Calvinism. Next week we will hear his understanding of John 6:37-44.
Odd Comments
James White, , The Dividing LineStarted off looking at a few odd comments made in the textual arena since last week, then moved on to two clips from Jimmy Akin, one on prayer to the dead, the other on predestination and election, and another “I think the Greek says” error from Mr. Akin. Then we looked at a quote from Greg Koukl’s new book, Tactics.
Signing of the Augsburg Accord on Justification
James White, , The Dividing LineWhy the “agreement” made on Justification between liberal Lutherans and liberal Catholics is misleading. Ambiguous language is used to disguise crucial theological differences, and it still does not actually resolve the issue. Unity must be based on truth, not at the expense of truth. Dr. White takes a call from a young, fiery Catholic.
