Alpha and Omega Ministries is a Christian apologetics organization based in Phoenix, Arizona. James White, director, is a professor, having taught Greek, Systematic Theology, and various topics in the field of apologetics for numerous schools.
Sorry, for those of you who do not appreciate fractal art, but this thing suddenly appeared on my screen as I was tweaking a setting and I must say, it is one of the most amazing fractals I’ve ever produced. You can’t tell from this image, but if you download it from my website (click on the image) and view
Yes, that’s me, March, 1981, sitting at the controls of KWAO FM 106.3 in Sun City, Arizona. I worked there in High School and into college, working six to midnight Monday through Friday and noon to six on Saturdays. And though that image is small, you can note that 1) I weighed about 140 lbs and had a 30 inch
For the half dozen of you who are enjoying your desktops more these days….I upgraded one of the two fractal programs I use, and have found Orbital Trapping a wonderful arena for exploration. (Actually, I’ve had a couple thousand visits to my fractal pages since I started posting a few samples here. I hope those who have downloaded a few
This is a simple 5th Order Newton M-set with the color tweaked out a good bit. Looks like neon lights behind the alien mother ship. 🙂 Or something, like that, sorta…I will have to talk about fractals sometime. Not only are they gorgeous, but I find some great theology in them as well.
Between May 5, 1993, and November of 1998, I rode right at 29,000 miles on a bicycle. I rode my first century race (100 plus miles) less than six months after starting, and finished in less than six hours. At one point I owned a Bianchi ELOS with Campy Record components, and a Nishiki carbon fiber with Dura-ace components. I
I had over a thousand visits to one of my fractal pages last week after I noted one I had made a few days ago (I’m making fractal backgrounds to go with various Object Desktop Suites I have on my system). Here is one of today’s efforts. I’ve added it to the same page but I have a previous page
I was indulging my love of creating fractal art when I messed up saving a file; I set the size too large, and in the process “zoomed in” on one part of an image while saving it. And the result was considerably nicer than what I had tried to save in the first place. Don’t you love when that happens?
I asked my parents a question as we sat at a reception for the graduates at our church Friday evening. “When I graduated, did you sit there thinking, ‘Wait, this can’t be happening, because I graduated just a little while ago myself?'” And they confirmed that this is in fact a normal response. I feel better knowing that. Congratulations, Josh!
This evening I preached at PRBC from Acts 2. When I finished, I then had a privilege that only a few fathers have in this life: I baptized my daughter upon her profession of faith. I baptized my son last summer. Both of my children have now professed faith in our Lord and Savior, and I have had the inestimable
I confess, I am somewhat hesitant, given the vociferous nature of the opposition we face regularly, to say almost anything personal on the blog outside of theological issues, but I’ll trust the Lord on this one. 🙂 Yesterday I was the best man in the wedding of one of my closest friends in the world, Warren Smith. Warren is a
Yeah, yeah, I’m going to see the film….but can we talk about something else a second? I’ve been re-doing my personal info page, mainly because though I enjoyed sharing things about my personal life (hobbies and the like), I have had to remove that material. Far too many unfriendly folk in the world today, it seems. Anyway, I have been
I was going to comment on some more material in Bryson’s book, but I’ll leave that for Tuesday evening’s DL. I’ll content myself this Lord’s Day evening with noting Paul’s words to Timothy in 2 Tim. 3:14: “You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them.” I grew up
OK, I know, Baptists are not supposed to know, or at least use, words like “advent” since that sounds way too liturgical and all. But, it is a good biblical word, describing that tremendous historical event when the eternal Son of God, the one through whom all things were made, entered into His own creation, taking on flesh, being made
Cruises produce wonderful pictures. I happen to think I have a truly wonderful family. In fact, the following picture would look much better if I were not in it, but then it wouldn’t be a family picture! My kids were involved in the discussions on the cruise, from my son being at the theological talks each night, to my daughter
It was a new experience for me: as I walked up to the podium in Águas de Lindóia , Brazil, at the 19th Annual FIEL Conference, accompanied by Eros Pasquini, my tremendously talented translator, the entire gathered group of over 1,000 pastors began to laugh. Now, I’ve spoken to some tough audiences before (like the mainly Roman Catholic attendees at the
No, I’m not a fitness guru. But I do know that when I am in shape, I write better, teach better, preach better, research better. I wasted all of my 20’s. I never worked out. I fell apart. By 1993 I weighed over 200 lbs. and was in horrible shape. That’s when I chose to get in shape, and began cycling. I quickly
