Today on the Dividing Line we aired another episide of “Radio Free Geneva,” where we dedicate our entire time to responding to the worst of the worst of anti-Reformed polemics. Today, upon finishing the Adrian Rogers HyperCalvinism study, we moved into responding to Dr. S.M. Davis’ study, which exemplifies the horrific result of believing what Dave Hunt has to say.
More of the worst of the worst as we try to finish up the Adrian Rogers “HyperCalvinism study” and move on to Dr. S.M. Davis of Park Meadows Baptist Church and his two-part series, “Five Reasons Why I am Not a Five Point Calvinist.” Here we find a very articulate preacher who takes the horrific strawman presentation of Dave Hunt
Today on the DL our calls, well, except for the first one, actually had something to do with the topic! We started with a ministry that promises to save a soul for every $48 you give, moved on to Dave Hunt’s newest screed on Calvinism, and then back to the Adrian Rogers “HyperCalvinism” study, with a few calls on the
We had some server problems that got us going a bit late, but we pressed on anyway with a discussion of Roman Catholic priests and a review of some comments on the Eucharist. Here’s the slightly shorted (53 minute) program.
First 2/3 of the program I played clips of Tim Staples on various subjects and commented thereon; last 1/3 were calls on the Trinity and ecumenism. Another eclectic DL! Here’s the program.
Discussed the new Matatics stand on the Mass and ordination, took a call on elders, and then finished up with another half hour of discussion of Adrian Rogers’ “hyper Calvinism” talk. Here’s the program.
An eclectic show today! Played a clip from John Dominic Crossan the first fifteen minutes, then began about a half hour response to Dr. Art Sippo’s post, “Pseudopodeo’s PseudoChristianity” from over on the Envoy boards, and followed that up with a quick review of Timothy Enloe’s “I said this is a discussion of sola scriptura and how it works but
Today on the DL we did “Crossan 101,” an introduction, mainly in his own words, to the thought of John Dominic Crossan. Using clips from previous debates I sought to explain the presuppositions upon which he functions, and how our debate in August is going to be just a tad bit on the challenging side. Here’s the program.
On the DL this evening I played a clip from Johnny Hunt, one from Jerry Falwell, and then continued the review of the Adrian Roger’s Bible study on “Hyper Calvinism” (i.e., just plain ol’ Calvinism). Here’s the program. Enjoy!
The DL today was quite eclectic since it was almost totally caller-driven. Calls on the nature of imputation, eis at Acts 2:38, a little something about Mary, and I likewise discussed some threads on the Catholic Answers forums, including one that had just begun about praying the Rosary for me instead of calling in. Ryan L did not call, but
Is It Possible for a Non-Christian to Enter into Heaven?
James White, , Roman Catholicism, The Dividing LineThis is the 10th debate in the Great Debate series covering the topic of whether or not a non-Christian can enter Heaven. In this debate, Dr. White takes the negative whereas Bill Rutland takes the positive side. This is certainly one of the more gentlemanly debates with both sides behaving in a cordial manner towards one another. The focus of
I managed to get through eleven minutes of Adrian Rogers’ college Bible study on “Hyper Calvinism” (i.e., just plain ol’ Calvinism) and then took a good call on John 6:44, 3:16, Dr. Lavender’s arguments, etc., that took us to the end of the hour. Listen here.
We are making the mp3’s of the debate available today, and hope to have the DVD’s ready to go early next week (taking pre-orders now), so I played some sections from the debate in the first half hour of the DL today to give you a “taste,” and then commented thereon. Second half hour was more on debating with Roman
For personal reasons I had to move the Thursday evening edition of the DL to Friday morning, 11am. See you then!
Well, we kept the lines open for all the brave souls on the Envoy forums to call today, but they didn’t call! I’m shocked and disappointed. Well, OK, not really. So, the first half hour was all about the Sippo/Rutland melt-down, then we took some calls. Here’s the program.
My apologies, but I’ve pushed too hard today and the voice isn’t going to make it for a DL. I did an hour long program this morning back in MA, and it started falling apart then, and joined with an hour long conference call this morning, well, if I am going to be able to speak Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,
Our one-day-late version of the DL went well, with a wide variety of questions from all over the spectrum. Here’s the program.
Just got back from catching up on cultural events (i.e., Summer and I saw the new Star Wars movie in a morning matinee) and immediately have a bunch of stuff to cover on the DL in a few hours, specifically— Timothy George demonstrates why the “Academy” is leading the largest portion of its adherents and followers astray regarding the gospel,
