Yes, after many, many years of avoiding the “eschatology” question, I will finally “take a stand” tomorrow on the DL and “make it official.” In fact, we have been taking a poll in #prosapologian all day long, and as of this evening, the folks who know me best have placed their “bets” and have concluded: Amillennial: 59% Historic Pre-Millennial 33%
The DL will be live today at 3:30PM MST, half an hour early due to the need to drive across the Valley (and this is a big valley!) to minister at the LDS Easter Pageant in Mesa. Sorry I did not post this earlier, but I have not had access to the computer until now. We will report on the
Debate: Are Temples Consistent with the New Testament? Richard Hopkins, Salt Lake City, Utah, 4/2/2004
James White, , Debate, Mormonism, The Dividing LineJames White debates Richard Hopkins on the history and biblical nature of constructing and need for Temples in the New Testament. Given the LDS emphasis on temple work this is a very important subject for reaching LDS people.
Debate: Gay Marriage? Dee Bradshaw, Salt Lake City, Utah, 4/3/2004
James White, , Debate, Homosexuality, The Dividing LineJames White debates Dee Bradshaw the Pastor of Sacred Light of Christ Church of Salt Lake City, UT (Metropolitan Community Church) on the subject of Gay Marriage and the bible.
It has been quite some time since we took phone calls, so we will throw the lines open tomorrow, Thursday, at 4PM MST, for your calls (877-753-3341). We had one caller Tuesday I didn’t get to (call back!), and since we have talked about Adrian Rogers, Dave Hunt, and a number of other topics since having open phones, I’m sure
OK, since too many of you have figured out the Dividing Line schedule, we are changing it again. Starting THIS MORNING we will go back to the Tuesday 11AM/Thursday 4PM schedule (MST). Seriously, why change the schedule? We get a lot of complaints about that. Well, it’s simple: it’s a two man operation, and both of us are family men,
Tomorrow on the DL: Dave Hunt Says James White Does Not Want “Debating Calvinism” in Print
James White, , The Dividing LineFor those of you who have been writing and saying, “Look, come on, can you find a meaningful Arminian to debate, that Hunt encounter, though useful in responding to the common, but uninformed and shallow objections to Calvinism, was hardly a fair fight” may find this utterly amazing, but it is true: Dave Hunt thinks he proved his points in
Listening to a couple of hours of Dave Hunt railing on Calvinism gave me a royal headache last evening. But, you will benefit when you listen to the DL this afternoon. I am simply grieved to hear Dave repeat falsehoods upon which he has been corrected over and over and over again, without even trying to get it right. It
Today on the DL: Continuing Response to Adrian Rogers’ Recent Anti-Calvinism Sermon
James White, , The Dividing LineOf course, Dr. Rogers never mentions us nasty “Calvinists” by name. We are just “some people.” But his recent anti-Calvinism sermon is a classic example of how to teach tradition without the slightest investment of a moment’s consideration as to the meaningful exegesis of any text you throw out. Nearly 25 examples of “how to completely shred a straw-man while
James analyzes Ignatius’ letter to the Smyrnaeans in light of the Roman Catholic claim that all of the early church fathers (ECFs) believed in the Real Presence, with a careful look at the differences that exists between the Real Presence, the word “eucharist,” and transubstantiation.
James discusses today about the importance of debates, and with his disappointed announcement that Dr Strauss cancelled his debate on the KJV-only position, explains how important cross examination is in a debate. Then he moves on to a question on the BAM show about election and predestination in relation to libertarian free-will. A Mormon calls in and discusses free-will in
The first major topic that James talked about today was how a handful of Supreme Court judges in Massachusetts were able to redefine marriage to include homosexuality. A caller from Massachusetts calls in on that very subject and then switches gears and debates James on John chapter 6 and Calvinism. The last caller talked about comparing and contrasting the interpretation
George Bryson’s book is finally in! But first James reveals the source of Mel Gibson’s movie “The Passion of the Christ,” which is the book “The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ.” Next, James moves on to exploring “The Dark Side of Calvinism” by George Bryson and analyzing Hank Hanegraaff’s involvement with the BAM debate that the three had.
The first half of the show today was mostly covering information for a cruise that Alpha & Omega Ministries was organizing scheduled for November 7th,2004 and discussing how the title of his upcoming Sola Scriptura book is determined. Then James took a call on eschatology. The last call was from a Roman Catholic who discussed the Assurance of salvation.
Open lines today. Topics such as God’s will and how God knows the future, especially in relation to the BAM debate with Hank Hanegraaff and George Bryson; a call about a Reformation ministry that James hadn’t heard about; in reference to Roman Catholicism: assurance of salvation and why Rome’s gospel can’t save; and why God changed His mind in Exodus 32.
