I was a little busy this past weekend, but yes, I saw the newest installment of “Destroy the Foundations, Blaspheme the Institutions God Has Established” from the White House. I refer to the Father’s Day proclamation from President O’Bama, and in particular, to this passage: “Nurturing families come in many forms, and children may be raised by a father and mother, a single father, two fathers, a step father, a grandfather, or caring guardian.” The dissonance created by the insertion of a non-family unit (two fathers, i.e., a homosexual “couple”) is easily seen. The preceding words had spoken of the “bond forged between a father and a child” as “sacred.” Sacred? What made that bond sacred likewise says “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination” (Lev. 18:22). Do not use words that come from our Christian heritage to describe the direct denial of Christian truth. The proclamation likewise speaks of father’s activities in the lives of their children, but, of course, two men cannot have children, they can only take children from others and deprive them of the God-ordained family structure of father and mother, and the role-models they need for true maturity. And finally, the text speaks of the “selfless” dedication of fathers—yet, the single most selfish thing one can do is force a child into a situation where they are deprived of a mother and given the example of two men pretending to be “married.” This is the very opposite of being “selfless.”
So once again we see how the foundational commitments of Western culture are under relentless attack by those who seek with all their might to “free” us from their power. May God have mercy.
