Covered a ton of topics including the consistency of John’s witness with the Synoptic Gospels regarding the day of the Crucifixion (Friday), modalism in the Book of Mormon and the “Joseph Smith Translation,” some thoughts on my upcoming sermon from Romans 4:25 (this coming Sunday), and some loose ends on materials relevant to Ken Wilson’s dissertation and the early Fathers.
Did thirty minutes on current events (the ethnicity discussion mainly) before firing up the Radio Free Geneva theme and tackling two videos, one from Greg Boyd, and the other from Kevin Thompson, both aimed at refuting Calvinism. Boyd’s was the general discussion, Thompson pretended that Reformed exegetes ignore the phrase “in him” at Ephesians 1:4. We debunked that claim. Here
I managed to resist the temptation to do the “politics talk” and finished up the introduction to sola scriptura today in a 90 minute program focusing upon the final sections of Karlo Broussard’s arguments on Catholic Answers Live, and then discussing two more important aspects, “Apostolic Tradition” in the early fathers as well as the issue of the canon. Finished off five straight days of Dividing Lines (9 total hours) with a meandering discussion of conditionalism in response to a video Chris Date posted a while back responding to my comments about Bart Ehrman. That took me to Irenaeus at one point, which accidentally led me off into Sophia and the demiurge and Gnosticism—but I found my way back
