Here is this morning’s Sunday School lesson in Matthew 19 (part of the multi-year study of the Synoptic gospels) from PRBC. I spent a good bit of time on how we can use such texts as an “entry” into conversation with our secular society, especially on the topic of marriage.

Did about 90 minutes today on a variety of topics but with a bit of a connected theme, digging into the text of John 3:13 as well as looking at Turretin’s discussion of the two natures of Christ. Finished up looking at the amazing behavior of folks on line in response to a new theological journal.
Answered a few questions from listeners on the last show at the start (just realized I forgot to answer one that I will make a note of!) and then went straight to the phones with an amazingly wide variety of calls and topics…a little something for everyone! Started off looking at texts like Isaiah 7:14, 9:6, and Micah 5:2 relating to prophetic utterances concerning the Incarnation of the Son. Then moved over to 2 Timothy 4 and Paul’s experience at the end of his life with Alexander the Coppersmith and others. Our plan is to do a third program this week, on Friday, at 11am. Join us

I am preaching at the God and Culture Conference in Waterford, Michigan. Great turn out (sold out)! They are posting the presentations within 15 minutes of when they finish, so, you can sort of keep up with us here. I preached on 1 Peter 3:15 this morning, and will speak on Islam at 3:15pm EDT.
Always good to just let the Word speak sometimes, so that’s what we tried to do today, looking first at the verbal forms of “give thanks,” then at the substantival forms, “thanksgiving.” Hopefully a challenging and encouraging study. I did also point out how one text is the death knell for the “Word Faith” movement’s abuse of scripture.
