A Twitter Convo, David Bernard Podcast on the Trinity, Open Phones

Began a rainy DL today with an interaction with a Twitter user (@BlackRepublican) regarding the foundational issues of the faith (once again—and one of the calls from our brother Kofi raised the issue again later), and then moved on to a brief interaction with Dr. David Bernard of the UPCI on the Trinity and soteriology (Bernard is the leading theologian of the United Pentecostal Church, i.e., the Oneness folks).  Then we went to the phones with calls on a wide variety of issues, and I finished up with a brief discussion of how important our Travel Fund is to my being able to do debates and teaching all around the world.  (If you go to that link click on the “donate” button and the travel fund will be available in the pull down menu).

The Color of Compromise, Steven Anderson Continued, Open Phones

Took time to make some comments on Jemar Tisby’s new book, The Color of Compromise.  Please note I forgot to read through a key paragraph initially, so after the open phones segment I read that paragraph and made some comments thereon (right at the end of the show).  Then we finished up the relevant portions of Steven Anderson’s first video, and then opened the phones, covering a wide variety of topics from textual criticism to theology and more.  Always find the calls challenging!

The Gospels Reading Plan for 2019

It is about that time of the year when we are introduced to creative ways to read our Bible for the next calendar year. Did you do it this year?

This is my eleventh year encouraging others to take each day of the year to read and reflect on a single unit in the Gospels. Did you know there are about 365 units in the Gospels? In the past, I cited five good reasons to own a Gospel Synopsis. The fifth reason is:

“Read a synopsis in one year by reading one pericope [a gospel unit] every day. By coincidence, the synopsis contains 367 pericopes. That is, all four Gospels combined contain 367 units.

Get the following edition so you are ready to go: Synopsis of the Four Gospels

Radio Free Geneva: The Andy Stanley/Leighton Flowers Interview

We premiered the new version of the theme song by Tim Bushong today, with almost all new quotes (though he kept “Read my book.”)  A few folks have complained that Ergun Caner is no longer standing on his hands on a stump, but, let’s be honest, most of our listeners don’t know much about Ergun Caner anymore.  Anyway, now Steven Anderson and Leighton Flowers have quotes in the RFG opening.  Probably considered a real honor by many! Anyway, we did two solid hours reviewing the interview, and still didn’t finish it, so, we will try to do so on a New Year’s Day episode of RFG next week!  Join us then!
