Radio Free Geneva: Calvinism’s Gospel Tautology Refuted

On Radio Free Geneva today we examined this article from Dr. Rich Davis titled “Calvinism’s Gospel Tautology.”  This is a classic example of “philosophical traditionalism vs. exegetical accuracy” when it comes to Reformed polemics.  Only an hour today, but at least you got to hear the RFG intro!  UPDATE:  Dr. Davis provided a “response” of sorts after the program aired.  I put “response” in quotes because it completely ignores the main point of my reply: the exegetical errors made in his article that then led him to his false philosophical argumentation.  This is a classic example of how philosophers privilege their philosophy above the actual content of the exegesis of the Scriptures.  Read it for yourself and compare!

Pelagians on Twitter, Man-Centered God at Bethel, Presuppositions in Ehrman, Open Phones

Started off looking at a Pelagian on Twitter by the name of “C G.”  Then played an entire ten minute long clip from a guy on the “Dead Raising Team” from Bethel Church in Redding about how we should believe in the goodness of people (please read Romans 3:10-18 over three times while pondering that concept).  Before going to the phones for the last part of the program we looked at how presuppositions impact arguments, such as those made by Bart Ehrman about the birth narratives in Matthew and Luke.

Two Hour Radio Free Geneva Interaction with the “Free Will Debate” from Houston

Went mega-length today as we played portions from the debate just a few days ago in Houston featuring, on “team Calvin,” Dr. Sonny Hernandez and Dr. Theodore Zachariades, and on team, well, uh…Team Free Will, perhaps, anyway, Dr. Leighton Flowers and Dr. Johnathan Pritchett.  Had only heard about it because Pulpit and Pen, in wildly rejoicing in the food fight aspects of the debate, had taken a shot at me in the process.  So, decided it would be worth taking a look at it, and so we did.  Lots of material covered, of course, and we didn’t quite get to the end of what I wanted to discuss, so we may finish it up on the next program.  Enjoy!

Radio Free Geneva! Robert Jeffress, Roman Catholicism, the Reformation, and then Kevin Thompson on John 6 (Mega Edition)

Started off with the First Baptist Dallas interview of Sean Hannity and discussed a lot about Roman Catholicism and how we should mourn over the fact that Rome’s gospel does not save.  Then I very, very briefly discussed the John Piper thing on final justification.  Then we moved to a video from Pastor Kevin Thompson on John 6:37, playing his comments in their entirety and demonstrating that yet once again there is simply no way to read this text without it plainly and compellingly teaching God’s utter freedom in the matter of salvation.  A full two hours today, no streaming errors or anything.  We will be doing another program tomorrow, same time!
