First half an hour or so we talked about Covid and passports and freedoms and the like, then we moved into looking at Trent Horn’s response to a small portion of our discussion of his 2019 Catholic Answers talk on Protestant “distortions” of church history, focusing upon the idea of “the argument from silence.” Almost an hour and 45 minutes
The Southern Baptist Convention is in town so I asked Pastor Tom Buck from First Baptist Church, Lindale Texas to join me in studio to talk Traditionalism and other things Southern Baptist. Here is the YouTube link:
I didn’t expect to spend the first hour talking about how the church has responded to the state’s “requests” and then demands, and what we can expect in the future. Then we talked about Anderson Cooper’s son and how the culture is just accepting the revolution’s norms.
Went over some of the events during my trip to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (including dodging tornadoes) and then briefly commented on a portion of the Romans 9 debate, then took calls on a variety of topics, including synergism/monergism, Chris Arnzen re-launching Iron Sharpens Iron, a call on “cooperation” in the SBC, and one on 1 Timothy 4:10. Responded to a brief clip of Dr. Frank Turek talking with Leighton Flowers about Calvinists and evangelism, and then read an article on Pope Francis telling everyone to “go to Thomas.” This led to a lengthy discussion of further developments in the Thomistic Downgrade amongst the Reformed. An hour and 15 minutes.
Did a Skype-based Dividing Line from Colorado today, spending quite some time on Ignatius in response to claims by some Muslim apologists about his views. Then discussed some quotes from Bruce Ware on “eternal functional subordinationism” and the entire conflict. Finished up addressing He Who Judges From Afar doubling down on his position. And lots of other stuff thrown in
On an election day version of the Dividing Line we pretty much avoided the topic and instead started listening to the debate between Mike Licona and Dale Martin on whether Jesus believed Himself to be divine.
