Three sections to the program today. The first topic was a discussion on Romans 3 and its testimony to human sinfulness. Always good to just let the Word speak sometimes, so that’s what we tried to do today, looking first at the verbal forms of “give thanks,” then at the substantival forms, “thanksgiving.” Hopefully a challenging and encouraging study. I did also point out how one text is the death knell for the “Word Faith” movement’s abuse of scripture.
I am currently reading Biblical Theology in the Life of the Church for fun, but also in preparation for (Lord willing) pastoral ministry. What I’ve read so far I am really enjoying, with one exception. I do not understand why some theologians, when speaking of covenants, buy in to Meredith Kline’s view.
