De-Platformed by Dan DeWitt, the Influence of History, Receiving the Received Text

We dealt with the accusations of Dr. Dan DeWitt, Research Fellow of the ERLC, calling for him to substantiate, or withdraw, his statements.  Then we looked at how we are all influenced by the history that came before us, whether we see it or not.  Had a little fun with Dr. Mohler and Whataburger and dodgeball, and then spent the last part of the program looking at how some believe we need to “receive the Received Text,” which included some great shots of my 1550 Stephanus and its PTL rebind cover!  Went a little long (73 minutes).

Jeff Durbin Joins James to Discuss Andy Stanley and Kwaku El

For the first half hour or so Jeff Durbin and I discussed my new role as his fellow elder at Apologia Church along with his experience in dialoguing with Andy Stanley on the Unbelievable radio broadcast.  Then we transitioned into a full analysis of Kwaku El’s new video promoting polytheism.  I will continue my response to Kwaku next week on the program.  Enjoy!

Reviewing Recent Interactions on Line, then Back to Erasmus and the Text

Went over various interactions with folks regarding social justice and the like, including some Anthony Bradley quotes, at the top of the program (actually had a few comments on developments in Mormonism at the very start), and then switched back to Erasmus and the book of Revelation, then engaging with arguments/accusations made from the textual traditionalists.  Finished up watching a brief video of an encounter between Steven Anderson and some brothers in a park in Tempe.  100 minutes!

A Twitter Convo, David Bernard Podcast on the Trinity, Open Phones

Began a rainy DL today with an interaction with a Twitter user (@BlackRepublican) regarding the foundational issues of the faith (once again—and one of the calls from our brother Kofi raised the issue again later), and then moved on to a brief interaction with Dr. David Bernard of the UPCI on the Trinity and soteriology (Bernard is the leading theologian of the United Pentecostal Church, i.e., the Oneness folks).  Then we went to the phones with calls on a wide variety of issues, and I finished up with a brief discussion of how important our Travel Fund is to my being able to do debates and teaching all around the world.  (If you go to that link click on the “donate” button and the travel fund will be available in the pull down menu).
