A Heavy Duty Jumbo DL
05/23/2013 - James White
Well, you won't be laughing your way through today's 90 minute DL, that's for sure. Started off with the jihadi attack in London---and I think some folks will not be happy with where I ended up on that one, challenging us to think about our own hearts in light of those events. But then we moved from that into the Pope's "everyone has been redeemed by the blood of Christ, even atheists, who can do good" homily, and from that into Tyler McNabb's swimming the Tiber (just in time for the "which Pope are you going to believe" festival over there, it seems). Then for the last 25 minutes we reviewed Rachel Held Evans' recent blog post responding to John Piper, a wild-eyed straw-man burning party that is truly breathtaking. Some pretty weighty topics, to be sure! Here's the program.16:29:34 - Category: The Dividing Line - Link to this article -

Today on the Dividing Line: Justin Lee Debate Report and Much More
05/21/2013 - James White
On the program today we started off with a brief report on the events this weekend up at Reformation Montana and the nature of the debate/discussion with Justin Lee (the audio should be available today or tomorrow in our online store). Then I discussed the comments of someone who uses the moniker "Descriptive Grace" who, though he has clearly not read my book on the Qur'an, left a comment at TurretinFan's blog accusing it of being filled with inaccuracies and attacks on Christians because "that's how Jimmy rolls." I wrote to this individual and invited them to call in to back up their accusations, but, of course, we did not receive a phone call. Mentioned our continuing need for funds for the debates in South Africa with Yusuf Ismail and Adnan Rashid (click here!), and then reviewed this amazing "sermon" by a "bishoptrix" wherein she demonstrated that what the Scriptures actually meant to their author is, of course, irrelevant to her. Then we addressed, briefly, Scott Alt's catapulting into the realm of utter absurdity with this blog article wherein he demonstrates that "reason and truthfulness is not relevant in the defense of Mother Rome." Then we discussed some changes in the new 2013 edition of the LDS Scriptures relating to the Book of Abraham, and took one phone call on "prevenient grace."Here's the program.

The Two Humanities in Romans 5, and Ergun Caner's Self-Proclaimed Innocence
05/07/2013 - James White
Today on a jumbo length Dividing Line I started off asking for your help to get me to London and South Africa in late September or early October. If you would like to help me get to London for a debate on Roman Catholicism, and then to South Africa for numerous opportunities of teaching, lecturing, but most importantly, to debate Yusuf Ismail, a well known Islamic apologist, click here. Then I moved on to an explanation of Romans 5:12-19 in light of those who deny such doctrines as federal headship, original sin, etc. It is a challenging passage, and I hope the discussion is helpful for folks.
Finally, we spent the last fifty minutes of the program responding to Ergun Caner's proclamation of his complete innocence and how anyone who has concluded he has lied about his past (as the documentation thoroughly proves) is either a hyper-Calvinist (nothing like a new false definition of that phrase!) or a Muslim! Sorry for all your non-Reformed folks who were offended by Caner's long string of documented falsehoods---you are now a hyper Calvinist or a Muslim!

Today on the DL: A Catholic Answers Forum Caller Calls Steve Gregg, and Adam Harwood's Presentation
04/25/2013 - James White
Covered two topics mainly today, with two brief calls interspersed. First played Adam's call to Steve Gregg. Adam is a Catholic Answers forums user, and, true to form, repeated the ever-growing, and still utterly inane "38,000 Denominations" falsehood within the first fifteen seconds or so. Then we took some calls, and moved on to Adam Harwood's presentation at the John 3:16 Conference. I actually focused only upon the John Piper clip he played, as I will go more in depth on the Romans 5 materials in the future (possibly next week, but I'm not making any promises). I disagreed with John Piper's comments on infant salvation, and provided some of my own thoughts on the subject. Here's the program.18:52:36 - Category: The Dividing Line - Link to this article -

Rob Bell: ψευδάδελφος
04/23/2013 - James White
Rob Bell appeared on Justin Brierley's Unbelievable broadcast this past weekend. The first two thirds of the program were unremarkable, but finally they got to asking serious questions of Bell, who did not handle the encounter very well. Aside from needing to download a profanity beep sound (Bell got a little "edgy" when he started pretending to be a victim), I was truly offended by his non-answers joined with his wonderfully post-modern mindset. Together with his throwing out shallow excuses for his position (remember the video below that I posted a while back? Nothing much has changed), Bell then had the audacity to play the victim card, and complain about how people hate the church because, evidently, people who care about truth ask Rob Bell serious questions for which he evidently doesn't have the first clue as to a response. Just unreal. Anyway, had just enough time at the end to play a call to Catholic Answers Live about yours truly. Here's the program.12:44:27 - Category: The Dividing Line - Link to this article -

Hadith Qudsi and Peter Lumpkins---Stretching the Boundaries of Podcasting!
04/19/2013 - James White
Did not even bother trying to make a transition between the two halves of today's program. Started off with a discussion of Islam and eventually the reading of a few "hadith Qudsi," all of which I explained on the program. Then switched over to a response to yesterday's attempted response by Peter Lumpkins, taking the opportunity to go a little more in-depth into the issues raised, as the straw-man argument Lumpkins presented (i.e., that since Adam heard God's voice, that means unregenerate man have the capacity to "hear" without spiritual intervention in the form of regeneration) is a common one. Here's the program. Also, for those interested, I am starting to do a lot of interviews on What Every Christian Should Know About the Qur'an. One of the first was just posted on a podcast I listen to often, Christ the Center, and you can find it here. I will be joining Janet Mefferd on Monday on the same subject.

Today on the Dividing Line: Mainly a Review of a Catholic Answers Forums Thread
04/17/2013 - James White
Did manage to discuss a few other topics at first, including some gay marriage related topics, but spent the majority of the hour looking at this thread from the Catholic Answers Forums, once again illustrating the fact that the folks who regularly frequent such forums just don't seem to have an overly voracious desire for the truth. Here's the program.18:04:09 - Category: The Dividing Line - Link to this article -

Today on a Mainly Jumbo, "This is It for the Week" DL
04/10/2013 - James White
Started off with a little Lumpy news and comment, then moved into the California AB 460 absurdity, a good bit more on that general topic, later threw in some Qur'an discussion, some clips from the Wilson/Sullivan debate, and a bunch of good calls. I was as tired as could be, but hope it is useful anyway! Here's the program.17:09:39 - Category: The Dividing Line - Link to this article -
